Learning Objectives
At the completion of this session, the participant will be better able to
  • Review current state of the knowledge pertaining to colon cancer, including risk factors, screening guidelines, pathophysiology and staging, and nationally accepted standards of practice for patient management
  • Identify clinical practice implications of emerging clinical trial data relevant to colorectal cancer
  • Outline approaches to facilitating nurse-physician-pharmacist collaboration in the incorporation of evidence-based interventions into individualized patient care plans
  • Using a case study approach, formulate individualized patient care and education plans that
    • Incorporate emerging clinical trial data relevant to therapeutic regimens for treatment and toxicity management
    • Integrate strategies to assist patients in meeting the challenges of cancer survivorship
    • Address unique clinical issues faced by special patient populations (ie, the elderly, those with liver metastases)
