Learning Objectives
At the completion of this session, the participant will be better able to

Review current state of the knowledge pertaining to colon cancer, including risk factors, screening guidelines, pathophysiology and staging, and nationally accepted standards of practice for patient management
Identify clinical practice implications of emerging clinical trial data relevant to colorectal cancer
Outline approaches to facilitating nurse-physician-pharmacist collaboration in the incorporation of evidence-based interventions into individualized patient care plans
Using a case study approach, formulate individualized patient care and education plans that
- Incorporate emerging clinical trial data relevant to therapeutic regimens for treatment and toxicity management
- Integrate strategies to assist patients in meeting the challenges of cancer survivorship
- Address unique clinical issues faced by special patient populations (ie, the elderly, those with liver metastases)
